2026 Indiana Girls High School State Finals: Live Recap

The 2026 IHSAA Girls Swimming & Diving State Championships are underway at the IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis, IN. The meet features a variety of events, including the 200 Medley Relay, 200 Freestyle, 200 IM, 50 Freestyle, 1-Meter Diving, 100 Butterfly, 100 Freestyle, 500 Freestyle, 200 Freestyle Relay, and 100 Backstroke and Breaststroke Finals.

The Carmel High School Girls are aiming for a legendary 40th straight state title, 200th event title, and 20th title for coach Chris Plumb. They currently hold 198 event wins.

The Carmel girls team faces a strong challenge from other schools, but they still have four individual top seeds: Ellie Clarke in the 200 IM and 100 Back, Molly Sweeney in the 100 Fly and 100 Breast, and 1st place in the 200 Medley Relay and 400 Free Relay.

The 200 Medley Relay Final saw Carmel take the top spot with a time of 1:40.90, seven-tenths ahead of Valparaiso's 1:41.60. The Carmel team's swim was two-tenths off their prelims time of 1:40.68, but still enough to win the gold. The team consisted of Leah Debosch, Molly Sweeney, Ellie Clarke, and Sophie Floyd.

The 200 Freestyle Final saw Emily Wolf from Fishers High School take the top time with a 1:45.84, more than two seconds ahead of the rest of the field. Catie Brenneman from Concord finished second in 1:47.95, and Ava Metzger from Zionsville finished third in 1:48.37.

The 200 IM Final saw Ellie Clarke take the top time with a 1:57.73, just a tenth-of-a-second over Carroll Fort Wayne's Jordyn Glassley. Glassley finished second in 1:57.85, and Haley Hunter from Zionsville finished third in 1:59.07.

The 50 Freestyle Final saw the top three girls all under 23 seconds. Carroll Fort Wayne took the top two spots with Maris Williams earning the top time in 22.86, and Kate Fetters swimming 22.92. Mount Vernon sophomore Peyton McDaniel finished third in a personal best 22.98.

The 1-Meter Diving Final saw Adelyn Flessner from North Central Indiana take the top spot with a score of 529.30, followed by Helena Gibson from Carmel in second with 488.85, and Deryn McMahon from Noble in third with 450.25.

The 100 Butterfly Final saw Molly Sweeney take the top time with a 52.78, four-tenths ahead of Mooresville's Lylah Theriac, who swam 53.18. Theriac finished second in a new lifetime best, and Carroll Fort Wayne's Jordyn Glassley finished third in 53.33.

The 100 Freestyle Final saw Kate Fetters take the top spot with a 49.52, followed by Maris Williams in second with 50.00, and Catie Brenneman from Concord in third with 50.01.

The 500 Freestyle Final saw Fishers junior Emily Wolf take the top spot with a dominant win in 4:43.25, more than nine seconds ahead of Ava Metzger from Zionsville in second with 4:52.58. Carmel's Haley Morris finished third in 4:57.99, a new best time by half-a-second from her prelims swim.

The 200 Freestyle Relay Final saw Carroll Fort Wayne take the top spot with a time of 1:32.63, followed by Zionsville in second with 1:33.65, and Fishers in third with 1:34.42.

The 100 Backstroke Final saw Ellie Clarke take the top spot with a 53.08, followed by Lilyanna King from Muncie in second with 55.12, and Leah Debosch from Carmel in third with 55.19.

The 100 Breaststroke Final saw no new state records, with the top three swimmers yet to be determined.

The 400 Free Relay Final saw no new state records, with the top three swimmers yet to be determined.
